City of Bells
The city rang at dawn, noon, and dusk. Bells from temples, churches, and the broken clock tower competed for the air, layering their calls like old friends interrupting each other.
No one could agree on the exact time. But everyone agreed on the feeling: that the day had been announced, that something had been witnessed.
I left the city on a bell-less morning. The silence in the train was so complete I thought I had gone deaf.

The imagery in the second paragraph is beautiful.
I needed to read this today.
